AP Poll: Arizona State jumps back in rankings after in-conference sweep

Back in at No. 25.

The Arizona State Sun Devils managed to hop back into the rankings Monday, placing at 25th in the latest AP Poll.

ASU’s wins over the L.A. schools counted as the first in-conference sweep in the Bobby Hurley era. Then-No. 24 Kentucky lost twice, while then-No. 25 Miami split an in-conference series, allowing the Sun Devils to squeeze back in the rankings.

Arizona, who lost to UCLA by eight, then beat USC by 14, dropped four spots to 17th. Kansas fell three spots to 13th, while Xavier climbed up one spot to fourth.

In other rankings, Arizona State sits at 32nd in the KenPom standings and 26th in the latest RPI. The Sun Devils bumped up to a 7-seed in Monday’s Bracketology.

Arizona State and Arizona face off in Tempe on Thursday at 7 p.m on ESPN. At 17th, the Wildcats will hold the same rankings from their 84-78 win over the Sun Devils in Tucson on Dec. 30.
